Understanding Ourselves as Spiritual Mothers

“The hour is coming has come, when the vocation of woman is being achieved in its fullness, the hour in which woman acquires in the world an influence, an effect and a power never hitherto achieved. That is why, at this moment when the human race is undergoing so deep a transformation, women impregnated with the spirit of the gospel can do so much to aid mankind in not falling.” -Pope Paul VI

We are called as witnesses to the love of God that we have experienced ourselves by sharing it with others in a gentle motherly way. As disciples of Jesus, we cooperate with the power of the Holy Spirit he has sent us and which flows through us as we reach out to others.

Through our words, prayer and actions, we bring faith in God, encouragement, nurturing and healing. We join with the mission of Jesus’ mother, Mary, given her from his cross as he was enduring his passion.

We have developed a formation program for women wanting training to minister out of Spiritual Motherhood.

Spiritual Mothers are Needed Today.

So many people in our time are consumed with fear, uncertainty and confusion. They have lost faith in God’s power, providential care and purpose for their lives. Spiritual motherly love can do much to aid them from not falling.

The Church gives thanks for all the manifestations of the feminine ‘genius’ which have appeared in the course of history, in the midst of all peoples and nations; she gives thanks for all the charisms which the Holy Spirit distributes to women in the history of the People of God, for all the victories which she owes to their faith, hope and charity: she gives thanks for all the fruits of feminine holiness.

– Pope St. John Paul II
